How shall this be?

Have you ever been in a situation where you thought up an idea that seemed larger than you? What question came to mind at such a time? You know the answer don’t you? We all have moments  when we daydream about achieving greatness, but like Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ our saviour, we shrink back in fear and think within us  ” How shall this be?” (Luke 1: 34 KJV).

I can identify with Mary’s s statement, because I have at some points in my life tried to work out some things with my own imagination, instead of  allowing God to have His way in me. I had relied on my ability forgetting that the bible has instructed me not to trust in my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). I have discovered that we tend to ask questions such as this when we doubt if we  have the resources or ability to achieve our dreams. Mary made this statement when Angel Gabriel announced to her that she was going to have a baby without having any sexual contact  with a man. This was definitely unheard of! However, that was God’s plan  and only Him could accomplish it . He only needed the cooperation of Mary.

What God wants to do through you and I is  beyond our physical ability. Your dream is larger than you and because it will take God’s assistance to accomplish it,  your cooperation is needed.  Do you have doubts about your dreams? Is that project you are thinking of embarking on too scary because  you don’t have the finance to kick off? Congratulations, do not abandon the dream ! Carry on with your preparations and you will be amazed how God will meet your need.
Sarah Abraham’s wife also had her doubts about God’s ability to give her a child as a woman who had reached menopause. Her response to the promise of God brought to herself and her husband through some 3 strangers her husband entertained in their house was ” After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also?” (Genesis 18:12 KJV).

You and I can achieve our dreams! Let us not belittle God. He is able to do far more than we can ever think or imagine. My desire is to know Him more and trust Him everyday. Even if my requests are not being answered instantly, I want to still trust and stand on God’s word.  Do you trust God to bring your dreams to pass?

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. Jeremiah 17:7
